Gloria Estefan is popularly considered as one of the most successful and influential Latin music singers of all time. She is a Cuban-American singer, songwriter, actor, and businesswoman. Gloria Mara Milagrosa Fajardo Garca is her full name; she was born in Havana, Cuba, on September 1, 1957. Gloria Estefan joined the Miami Sound Machine, a group fronted by her future husband Emilio Estefan, in the late 1970s, launching her musical career. With singles like "Conga," "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You," and "1-2-3," the Miami Sound Machine rose to recognition and success around the world in the 1980s under her direction as the lead vocalist. These songs helped Latin music become more well-known in the US by fusing pop, dance, and Latin influences.


Gloria Estefan enjoyed success as a solo artist as well, producing a number of albums such as "Cuts Both Ways," "Into the Light," and "Mi Tierra." She won numerous Grammy Awards for her music, which frequently combined Latin and mainstream themes. In addition to her singing career, Gloria Estefan has engaged in a number of charitable activities and has utilized her platform to promote issues like AIDS research and disaster assistance.


The band switched to recording and performing in English in the middle of the 1980s, which expanded their reach and helped them achieve success abroad.
